Coming all the way from Galicia, Spain is the lovely Jesus Armenteros of Sidra Ribela. Yes Midfield friends, our next Meet Your Maker guest is a cider producer! Jesus will be hanging out at Midfield on Wednesday, October 2, pouring his cider and chatting with anyone and everyone. Drop by to say “hi” and crush a cider. We along with our co-hosts, Bogie’s Best Imports can’t wait to see you!

ABOUT RIBELA

They are a family business dedicated to producing Galician organic apple cider, made with local varieties. It is a sustainable project located in Ribela, in the township of A Estrada, Pontevedra, fully immersed in a rural environment. They make cider in a traditional way, letting it mature in the silence of their cellar.

Cider has been produced in Galicia since the Iron Age. This tradition has only been mantained in some scattered places. In the region of A Estrada, across valleys and along the banks of rivers Ulla, Umia and Liñares, indigenous apple species have remained to this day.

They use local and ancient varieties of apples from their own organic crops. Rabiosa varieties like the Raida, Marafouza, Freixerana or Pimienta are part of an inheritance of almost four hundred different Galician varieties.

ABOUT MEET YOUR MAKER

Meet Your Maker is a continuing series of evenings spent with some of our favourite winemakers. Designed to buck the trend of formal winemaker dinners, MYM is a way to provide our customers with a casual and fun way to meet the winemaker while they themselves hang out at Midfield, eating and drinking, pouring their wines and chatting with anyone who cares to chat with them. MYM is a non-ticketed event; come for dinner, come for a snack or just drop by for a drink. While this is a non-ticketed event, space is usually limited so we recommend making reservations if you are coming in for dinner. Cheers!
