Our next Meet Your Maker guest is going to be serving up some seriously amazing wines from California. Winemaker Joanna Wells of Model Farm and Associate Winemaker of Kutch Wines will be hanging out with us and pouring flights of stunning wine from both wineries. These are innovative and boundary pushing wines that will make you think twice about what California has to offer. Joanna’s Syrah alone will turn your head simply because of its transparency and freshness! She’ll be pouring Model Farm Chardonnay and Syrah, and flights of Kutch Chardonnay and verticals of Pinot Noir. Don’t miss this!!! We along with our co-host Barrel Select are really excited about having you meet this up & coming California rockstar! Meet Your Maker is a non-ticketed event. Simply drop in if you’re coming for the wine but if you’re coming for dinner we recommend making a reservation. The Model Farm wines will be limited so don’t be late!! It took awhile for Jura wines to become “familiar” on Toronto wine lists and one of the producers that helped bring it to light and become more mainstream (for lack of a better word) is Domaine Baud. Jura is a small region just east of Burgundy and consequently compared to the same because of some crossover in varietals (pinot noir & chardonnay) and also for their lighter styles. Other more common varietals in Jura are the red varietals Poulsard and Trousseau, and the white, pale-skinned grape Savignin. What makes Jura unique is their oxidative styles known as vin jaune done with Savignin in a similar process to sherry, aging it under a flor-like yeast. (click pic for more event details)

About Nicolas Galy
With wine in his blood (he was raised in his family’s vineyard in Languedoc, and has worked for producers around the world) , a remarkable background in education and business, a long history of playing professional rugby (like his current employer Gérard) and a love for cooking, it’s no surprise that Nicolas is one enthusiastic guy about what he does. Which is why we are super stoked to have him as our next Meet Your Maker guest, representing the prestigious wines of Gérard Bertrand.

A Collaborative Dinner between Midfield Wine Bar & Godspeed Brewery
We are excited to be collaborating with one of Toronto’s newest and hottest breweries, Godspeed. Situated in the Eastside of Toronto, Godspeed opened in 2017 under the skillful hands and brains of Luc “Bim” Lafontaine. Luc used to be the head brewer at another well known Canadian brewery, Dieu du Ciel!, after which he moved to Japan and established a brewery just outside of Tokyo, then moved back to Toronto to open Godspeed. Luc still travels back to Japan to source ingredients for his brews.

About Daniele Gaia
Daniele left the well known Barolo producer Elvio Cogno to become the Assistant Winemaker at Réva in 2016. Now, we could stop there but the rest is way too interesting…he is a massive fan of heavy metal and sports, is a car rallying fan to the extent that he actually races the cars, his fiancé Elisa is also an oenologist and he loves his cat “Semola”.
We, along with our co-hosts Nicholas Pearce Wines, are excited to welcome Daniele to Midfield for our next Meet Your Maker event…we’re pretty sure this guy is going to have some colourful stories to tell.

2017 Irrévérence Launch
Geographically an hour and a bit away from Midfield Wine bar but always dwelling in our wine loving hearts is the infamous Pearl Morissette Winery nestled in the Niagara Region. We’ve had a long-standing love affair with this winery so obviously we are stoked to announce that on Wednesday, September 19th, Pearl Morissette will be launching a very special, small production cuvée at Midfield Wine Bar. From 6pm onward, Svetlana Atcheva will be hanging out with us pouring the next step in their evolution of skin contact white wines, 2017 Irrévérence . This is going to be a super informal and fun wine launch...one feature wine for sale being poured by one unique and passionate lady that some of you have already met.
We will be taking reservations for dinner. Space is limited so give us a shout asap to book a table. Having said that, please drop in for a glass or two…or a bottle…and have a chat with Svetlana…she likes to talk.

Our spring cleaning event was so popular we decided to hold another long weekend event! On Sunday, July 1st we'll be serving up a buffet of Magnums and offering them to you at cost plus $60...literally a buffet table of bottles for you to peruse and choose from.
If you don’t understand what the big deal is then think of it like this: you could walk into a restaurant with your own small bottle of wine, pay a standard corkage fee (avg $30) and drink your wine…maybe alone…OR at this event, you’ll walk into Midfield, buy the equivalent of two bottles of wine at cost plus a nominal amount that’s the equivalent of a standard corkage fee, and you’ll get to choose from a wide variety of wine that you personally can’t get unless you pay for a case of them, AND you get to drink it with all your friends. Purrrrrty sweet deal!!
We'll be open from 3pm to midnight...maybe longer if you're all enthusiastic shoppers. Kitchen serving snacks from 3-5pm, full menu from 5-10pm.

This is a non-ticketed event…but we recommend reservations if you’re coming in for dinner. Kitchen closes at 11pm. Drinks flow until Alvar passes out from jet lag.
ABOUT ALVAR DE DIOS
Alvar was born and raised in the village of El Pego near the southern boundary of the D.O. of Toro. His family had tended vineyards in the village for generations but Alvar didn't stay in Toro to learn his trade, rather he fell in with a pair of vinous rebels working in the Sierra de Gredos - Fernando Garcia and Dani Landi. While working as the cellar master for Fernando at Bodegas Maranones, Alvar began acquiring vineyards of his own in and around his native D.O., splitting his time between the Gredos and Toro… (CLICK ON THE EVENT PICTURE FOR MORE INFO)
